KNL is an innovative technology company whose most important asset is its highly talented and skilled professionals. One of them is Anni, a Master of Science in Accounting, who works as a Junior Business Controller in KNL’s finance team.

“I started at KNL in April 2023. Before KNL I tried different things in both studies and working. Through experimentation, my own preferences and strengths gradually began to take shape, which led me to study accounting. During my studies I realised that working with numbers could be my thing. I had also the opportunity to start working in financial management tasks during my studies, which further confirmed my belief that I was on the right career path," Anni says.

In the end of her studies, Anni made the decision to move from Helsinki to Oulu and she took a job as an educational planner. She began to look for a suitable job in her own field at the same time. The controller position at KNL seemed exactly what Anni had been looking for.

Numbers, analyses and developments

The role of a Business Controller and working at KNL have met Anni's wishes and expectations. The growing company has still a small finance team, which has provided the opportunity for a broad and diverse role.

“During my first year at KNL, I have learned a lot of new things and given different responsibilities. My job includes various tasks related to accounts payable and receivables, forecasting, reporting and cash management. In general, the job involves a lot of numbers and analysis. As a company KNL is in a growth phase. It means development needs also on the financial side, for example evaluating new systems. It is interesting to be involved in various development tasks and I hope that I will be able to contribute my own work to different projects more and more in the future” Anni says.

Exercise almost every day

Working with finance and numbers requires precision and concentration. Financial management is also characterised by deadlines that define the day-to-day work.

Anni enjoys a good work-life balance. She exercises a wide range of sports, almost daily, e.g. running, cycling and skiing in winter.

“I feel that KNL takes good care of the staff and the welfare is supported, as an example a weekly sports hour, which is part of the staff benefits. I often take advantage of the sports hour on Fridays by finishing the week with jogging,” Anni says.

An interesting job and KNL's unique products are things that matter. Anni feels that the people at KNL are not only knowledgeable but also very nice and always ready to help.

“I would describe the working atmosphere at KNL as effective and motivating, but at the same time it is pleasant and relaxed. All in all, it feels good to be part of KNL's journey and I look forward to the coming years” Anni sums up.
